The Citadel - Dar Soultan

A citadel is built , here we are somewhere in between the 12th and 13th century , the Almohads inaugurated it. And in the 16th century , more exactly around 1508 to 1541 ,the Portuguese  have provided the citadel with a large tower engraved with a crest of the Portuguese king Emmanuel.
By the eighteenth century ,the fortress was transformed into a castle for the Alaouites who built  a house called the Bahia from which the name "Dar Soultan" ,House of the Sultan .
Currently this monument has become the National Ceramics Museum.

And because a picture is worth a thousands words ,we'll leave you with some beautiful shots:

At first sight , it may look like some Dinosaur's foot, a weird one at least , but in fact this "Dino Tree" is 360 years old , and I wonder how many stories it would have said if it could speak!

It's worth a visit, a lot of amazing views and things to see. We couldn't show you everything because "Dar Soultan" is temporarly closed for renovation, All we shared are some old pictures we had. But we promise you that once the door's Museum will be opened we'll take more pictures for you.

Welcome to Safi

Safi, the magical city located in the west of Morocco(which is  also in the north west of the African continent). Safi (or Asfi as we call it in Morocco) is not magical in the "Lord of the rings"'s way or "Narnia"'s way, but in its own way. You probably never heard of it before, and that's why we made "Nice To Meet You Safi". This blog is made after realizing how much our city was, and is still neglected and Marginalized by all kinds of media, even though Safi is one of the oldest and deep-rooted cities of Morocco, Safiiiiiiiiiiiuhzrgkjzjb bfzkef... I'm sorry, I fell asleep on my keyboard... Anyway, what I was saying is that... you may not be reading what I'm writing so here's a picture.

Happy now? Good. Now back to our topic,if you ask people who lived in Safi for quiet sometime then left for an other place, they will probably tell you that they hated it when they first came in ( especially because of the circulating stereotypes), but once used to it, either they can't leave it anymore or if they had to,they somehow miss it, and that's the magic I was telling you about in the beginning. There are a lot of things you need to know about this city, so that's why we decided to keep you updated on what's going on. We hope you'll enjoy this journey with us throughout our blog.
